The ascent of death-metal trio DESERTED FEAR is nothing short of remarkable and thrilling. When the band was formed in the aptly named Thuringian town of Eisenberg (“Iron Mountain”), guitarist-vocalist Manuel “Mane” Glatter, guitarist-primary songwriter and producer Fabian Hildebrandt, and drummer Simon Mengs could hardly have imagined they’d come to the vanguard of the German metal scene.
With their album Veins Of Fire, DESERTED FEAR open a bold new chapter in their already impressive musical journey. Although their deep death-metal roots remain unmistakable, the increased confidence and craftsmanship in their songwriting - combined with an avalanche of gripping riffs - elevate Veins Of Fire to an entirely new level.
On Veins Of Fire, DESERTED FEAR once again push their compositional artistry, sonic palette, and musicianship into uncharted territory. Staying true to their signature hallmarks, they’ve refreshed both their melodies and drumming, while vocalist Manuel “Mane” Glatter has further expanded his range.
Lyrically, Veins Of Fire reveals DESERTED FEAR as a band deeply concerned with - and engaged in - the most urgent issues of our time, yet without a hint of preachiness or a demand for conformity. The album’s songs reflect a world rife with uncertainty, injustice, and widening divides. They paint portraits of people trapped between despair and the search for new hope, moving through dark landscapes - both metaphorical and real. They speak of lost ideals and the destruction of our planet’s natural environment, but also of an unbroken spirit of defiance and the will to fight back against oppression and those who seek to divide.
